Hosted PBXSIP Trunking

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking, or SIP Trunking, is an IP trunk service that can be configured to support both traditional Private Branch Exchanges (PBXs) and IP-PBXs. SIP Trunking can be an IP replacement for traditional Primary Rate Interface (PRI), T1 and analog line PBX interfaces, or can be delivered natively to an IP enabled PBX. Delivered over FairPoint’s private Ethernet network, SIP Trunking connects a customer’s premises-based PBX to FairPoint’s advanced softswitch network, routing voice calls to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and can be provided over the same Ethernet circuit that provides your Internet access, eliminating the need for separate voice and data transport.

In addition to basic voice packetization, SIP Trunking supports all traditional functionality associated with PBX interfaces like call control and network-supported features such as caller ID, CNAM and E911.

  • Extend the life of your existing phone equipment

Reduce the strain on your IT staff:

  • Simplifies your network management; you no longer manage separate lines for local, long distance and Internet

  • FairPoint manages your connection and provides 24X7 support by monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Avoid the costs and disruption of retraining staff on new phone systems
  • SIP is more scalable than PRIs or T1 solutions – easily add more trunk channels
  • If bandwidth is dynamically allocated between voice and data traffic – when no voice calls are made, all bandwidth is available upon demand for Internet access
  • Voice calls are given priority to ensure high voice quality
  • All calls are routed over FairPoint's network, not the open Internet, to ensure high voice quality
