The latest phishing attempt identified by FairPoint Security is sending emails stating “Your account has been suspended due to Webmail term changes”. Please note that these emails are not from FairPoint, so you should disregard and delete.

Phishing: computer users regularly receive email hoaxes, all of which take the same general form: the messages appear to come from a well-known source (i.e. FairPoint Communications). They may vary each time, although many of them refer to “webmail” and they usually ask for your login and/or password.

FairPoint will never contact customers asking for their login name and/or password via email.

If FairPoint customers receive one of these bogus emails, they should contact FairPoint at 1.866.984.2001 and can report it to the scamalerts@fairpoint.com.

Thank you,
FairPoint Communications
