General Support

After you place your order, we will send you a self-installation kit. Installation and activation should take less than one hour. If you have any questions, contact our 24/7 live Internet technical support at 1.800.240.5019.

Yes, for all high-speed Internet products other than our fiber Internet. Our 30-Day Money Back Guarantee provides that if, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with any FairPoint High-Speed Internet service, you may cancel your service within 30 days of your service ready date and receive a refund for any fees you have paid to FairPoint. We only ask that you return the modem and any other equipment within 30 days of cancellation to avoid any equipment charges.

FairPoint offers modems or wireless gateways for lease or purchase. Our Modem Lease Program offers a low-cost, convenient option for equipment optimized for use with FairPoint High-Speed Internet service. If any trouble arises, FairPoint will provide technical support and replacement gear at no cost to you. Modems and wireless gateways can be leased for $3.00 or $5.00, or purchased for $49.99 or $74.99, respectively.

Yes. With FairPoint Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), you can consolidate voice, data and video globally on a single channel, while reaching transfer speeds greater than that of frame relay.

Yes. FairPoint Ethernet Multipoint Service (EMS) was designed to provide any-to-any connectivity at native Local Area Network (LAN) speeds.


Yes. FairPoint offers remote Internet access (mobility), so when you are away from your primary connection, you can dial up and access the Internet and your email. Additional charges apply.

Your Internet service includes up to 9 email accounts. Multiple email accounts allow other household members to have their own private email accounts or you can have personal and business email accounts. You can set up your additional email boxes with our account management tool.

First, check to make sure that your computer meets the FairPoint High-Speed Internet minimum system requirements.

We can get you connected regardless of whether you use a PC or a Mac®.

The specifications below are for using the install CD to configure your modem.

Our technical support team will walk you through configuring the modem if you have a Mac® or a Windows operating system that is not listed below.

After you place your order, we will send you a 3-step self-installation kit. It will guide you through installing your modem, using filters and installing your FairPoint High-Speed Internet software.

Installation time can vary. However, we recommend that you reserve about an hour. Your self–installation kit includes an easy–to–follow audio-visual, 3–step installation CD.

Billing & Account Information

Yes. FairPoint charges a flat monthly fee for FairPoint High-Speed Internet service. You will not incur additional charges based on your Internet usage.

You may be required to purchase a modem and pay an activation fee, but those fees will be disclosed to you before you sign up for FairPoint High-Speed Internet.
