FairPoint Frame Relay Services (FRS)

FRS can simplify your current networks and allow you to rapidly upgrade bandwidth, connect your many sites and choose between various capabilities. It is a connection-oriented service that can accept any data for transport without disturbing the specific control data associated with the payload. It is an end-to-end data network offering based on frame relay technology, providing fast, efficient and reliable connectivity.

Benefits:

  • Support for multiple protocols
  • Meshed networking
  • Secure and reliable transmissions
  • Easy connectivity between LANs and locations
  • Seamless integration
  • Cost-effectiveness

Frame Relay with UNI and Access

Each User Network Interface (UNI) port with access line connection allows for unlimited usage on the FRS packet network. Each 56 Kbps, 384 Kbps and 1.536 Mbps UNI port includes one logical channel and one network address.

Frame Relay with NNI

NNIs are provisioned as a Frame Relay port only connection. NNI port only connections provide a frame relay network connection based on the port connection speeds of 384 Kbps, 1.536 Mbps and 44.736 Mbps. The frame relay port speed is consistent with the channel speed of the access channel.

Frame Relay with UNI Port Only

UNI port only connections provide a frame relay network connection based on the port connection speeds of 56 Kbps, 128 Kbps, 256 Kbps, 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps, 768 Kbps, 1.536 Kbps, 4 Mbps, 6 Mbps, 10 Mbps, 22 Mbps and 44.736 Mbps.

Frame Relay CIR to ATM PVC

This service allows the termination of frame relay traffic onto an ATM network by converting frame relay packets to ATM cells and ATM cells to frame relay packets.

Frame Relay Backup UNI

Backup UNI is a disaster avoidance and disaster recovery feature that consists of a primary UNI and a backup UNI, and incorporates PVC remapping capabilities of the frame relay network.
